The Hoop School '08 staff consists of the Doane Tiger coaching staff, current Tiger players and local high school coaches. Ian Brown Head Coach Head Coach Ian Brown is entering his seventh season at the helm of the Doane Tigers and has 16 years of collegiate coaching experience at the NAIA and NCAA II levels. The Tigers play an exciting, hardnosed brand of basketball. During his tenure, Doane has produced an NAIA All-American or Honorable Mention All-American in each of his six seasons, in the very competitive Great Plains Athletic Conference. Brown is also a Crete High School and Doane College alum. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lavon Riley Assistant Coach Assistant Coach Lavon Riley has been a mainstay in the Tiger program for several years. Because of this, Riley's work with the junior varsity program has helped build the depth in the Tiger program. Riley, a South Carolina native, had a stellar career at Western Nebraska Community College before moving on to East Carolina University. Riley went on to play professionally in Ireland, Spain, France, and Tunisia. His knowledge of the post position has had a positive influence on both the varsity and junior varsity big men. Lavon also evaluates the potential of Doane recruits and works with the preseason and postseason workout programs. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Brian Albrecht Assistant Coach Assistant Coach Brian Albrecht brought a wealth of coaching experience to the Tiger basketball staff when he came aboard in 2005. As the former head boys' basketball coach at Lincoln Southwest (three years) and Norfolk High School (six years), Albrecht had just under 200 career wins. He also served as a coach at Centennial High School (eight years) in Utica. His knowledge of the game, as well as his network of Nebraska coaches, should pay big dividends in player development and recruiting. Albrecht will be heavily involved with on-the-court teaching, game preparation, scouting and recruiting. He and his wife, Lori, have four children, Lucas, Lydia, Abbie, and Julia. Lucas is currently a member of the Doane men's basketball team. Albrecht teaches at Lincoln Southwest. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Cam Scholl Assistant Coach Graduate Assistant Coach Cam Scholl joined the Doane College staff in 2006 after a four year basketball career at fellow GPAC member Hastings College. A native of Deshler, Neb., not only did Cam play, but he also did work towards a career in coaching, attending coaching clinics around the Midwest while still an undergrad. He will be of great assistance to the day-to-day basketball operations for the Tigers. |
